Seorang wanita pada usia awal 50-an dibawa kerumah sakit karena perubahan tingkah lakunya. Keluarga wanita tersebut melaporkan bahwa dia memiliki masalah pada daya ingatnya & mempunyai rasa iri yang besar serta menjadi tidak mengenal waktu & sering menyembunyikan barang-barang. Pada saat dilakukan pemeriksaan oleh dokter, wanita tersebut tidak dapat mengingat nama suaminya, tahun berapa saat itu atau sudah berapa lamai dia berada di rumah sakit. Wanita tersebut masih dapat membaca, tetapi kesulitan untuk memahami apa yang dibaca & tertekan karena hal yang tidak biasa. Terkadang bahkan ia menjadi mudah marah & mempunyai halusinasi ataupun ketakutan yang tidak masuk akal.

Wanita tersebut yang bernama Auguste D., adalah pasien pertama yang dilaporkan mempunyai penyakit yang disebut dengan penyakit alzheimer (sesuai dengan nama dokter jerman yang pertama menjelaskan penyakit tersebut, yaitu Alois Alzheimer). Setelah Auguste D. meninggal dunia pada tahun 1906, dokter memeriksa kondisi otaknya & menemukan bahwa otaknya terlihat mengecil & terdapat beberapa hal yang tidak biasa, termasuk adanya gumpalan protein yang disebut dengan plak & serat-serat kusut didalam sel syarafnya. Kehilangan ingatan merupakan gejala yang umum terjadi pada penderita pikun/dementia. Akan tetapi bukan berarti orang yang sering lupa adalah penderita pikun/dementia. Orang yang menderita pikun/dementia biasanya mempunyai masalah serius dengan 2 atau lebih dari fungsi otaknya, seperti misalnya masalah pada ingatan atau kemampuan berbicara. Pikun/dementia dapat menyebabkan berbagai gangguan pada penderita ataupun keluarganya. Banyak dari gangguan tersebut akibat adanya kehilangan ingatan. Beberapa gejala yang umum terjadi pada penderita pikun/dementia terdapat dalam daftar berikut (meskipun tidak semua penderita mengalaminya), yang medicastore ambil dari familydoctor.org :

– An animated gif is simply an image of type gif, that combines within it a sequence of images, to display an animated motion when viewed in any browser! If you do like to create simple gif animations, then this free tool from microsoft is good enough for you!

This microsoft gif animator is no longer available on microsoft servers and is also not supported by them anymore But you could still find and download it from some websites.You can download it here as well.

Though this software was developed for windows xp platform, we found to our surprise that it still worked on windows 7 as well! It should also work on vista without any issues, though we haven't tested it for vista.

How to create animated gif?

Microsoft Gif Animator is a simple software and is quite intuitive to use. To create a gif animation, simply insert images for each of the frames.You can find the "Insert" button on the toolbar at the top.You can also rearrange the image sequence by clicking the up and down arrows! You can adjust the image width and height on the "Image" tab and also specify the final animated gif's width and height on the "Animation" tab!

You can have as many frames as the number of images you want to combine into an animated gif!

Microsoft gif animator is also useful to open any any existing animated gif and extract all the image frames within the tool! You can then reseqence or enhance them and build your own animated gif!

The trick to making a cool animated gif is to click two or more successive photo shots, when the target object is in motion.You can then combine them all into one good animated gif, with microsoft gif animator!

Do you know that you could turn your powerpoint presentation to PDF in Office 2010 and 2007? Yes, this can be accomplished without using any third party tool!

Microsoft Powerpoint is a great tool for creating impressive slides with great fonts and images.Powerpoint presentations are usually made with a lot of graphics, pictures, photos and images, to reinforce the information that the presenter is presenting. A good powerpoint presenter usually shares the powerpoint presentation with his audience, a few days before the actual presentation. This gives the audience a high level idea of what will happen during the presentation session and this would also make the session more interactive.

The presenter could choose to share a PDF document of the powerpoint presentation, as PDF is a great way to share documents by email or any other means, and the content cannot be easily changed!

It is easy to convert ppt to pdf in office 2010 and 2007. Moreover, the PDF copy of the powerpoint preserves the fonts, images and the formatting! The PDF documents would also look the same on most computers.

How to convert powerpoint (PPT) to PDF?

In powerpoint 2010, click File >> Save & Send >> Create PDF/XPS document.

You could also optimize the PDF file for publishing online and printing, by choosing "Standard" or "Minimum Size" options, while saving the PDF.

For powerpoint 2007, a microsoft add-in was released to publish ppt as pdf. After installing the add-in, you need to open a presentation, Click on the Office button in the top left corner of the PowerPoint 2007 screen, choose "Save as" and click on PDF or XPS in the pop-up menu.You will then be presented with a "Publish as PDF or XPS" dialog box. You then have to specify a location to save the converted pdf file.

While powerpoint is a great tool to create impressive diagrams, PDF is a great way to share content as it reduces the file size considerably.Convert ppt to pdf and share powerpoint presentations with ease.

Catan app adds Seafarers expansion with in-app purchase

The great Catan iOS game has added in its first expansion, available via an in-app purchase, and it’s based on the Seafarers of Catan expansion from the original German board game. The expansion introduces ships and shipping routes to the kingdom-building simulation, and it includes 10 different scenarios to build ships in, as well as pirates, a Gold River tile and some extra victory cards with different bonuses.

The expansion content is US$3.99 inside the app, but even if you don’t want to shell out the extra four bucks, one of the scenarios is included, so you can at least see how it changes the game. The Catan app itself has been critically acclaimed, and I really like this model of releasing content — it seems like a nice solid way of both making sure that content updates are significant improvements to an app, as well as allowing developers to get their own reward for releasing that content. Hopefully we’ll see some more apps, outside of the board game model, take this approach in the future.

We’ll be manning booth 1012 at Macworld Expo next week (and we’ll post our streaming schedule in advance this year), but the Conference kicks off on the 26th with a plethora of awesome events for attendees to check out. With a special discount ($15 Expo pass or 10% off conference registration) available here, we’re dying to know: Are you going? Let us know in the comments if you do plan to attend, and/or what you’re interested in seeing us cover if you won’t be there.

This year we’ll be paying special attention to anything we can get our grubby little hands on. So look for a lot of breakage as we rampage the show floor, testing equipment and posting videos or text and galleries. Of course, this is a trade show as well, so there will be panels, special events and more, but the real focus for us is a chance to try out all the stuff we’ve heard about leading up to the Expo itself.

Universal iPhone bumper found in Apple Store, mute button gets more space

We were wondering how Apple was going to handle two different button configurations for its AT&T and Verizon iPhones, and well, the solution couldn’t be simpler. One reader visiting the Apple Store stumbled upon a bumper with a slightly different packaging. Thankfully, this intrigued him enough to pick one up and do a side-by-side comparison between this new “universal case” and the old first-party solution. The only change, since volume buttons are mapped identically between the two, is a slot for the mute button that’s decidedly less mute. Definitely works with his AT&T model and should theoretically fit Verizon’s model, too. Tough luck if you’re making a move to Big Red and trying to bring an old case, but let’s be honest… you’d be paying a pretty penny for the new device anyway, so what’s a few more dollars for physical protection? - Full-size – Full-size calendars have the picture and the month on separate facing pages (horizontal alignment).

3.
