Avast Antivirus is definitely one of the best free antivirus softwares (for 2010 – 2011) to protect computers running windows 7, vista and windows xp! It is a must have for computers running older versions of windows as microsoft security essentials does not support them! (Note that version 2.0 of MSE for windows is now out of beta and you can read the review here – Microsoft Security Essentials Review) Like most other antivirus softwares including AVG Free, Avira Antivirus, Bitdefender Download, etc. avast does get updated automatically when you connect to the internet!
